This section defines the process around software product/IP solution release roll-out management.

Main Description

A release package is a single release unit or a collection of release units. All the elements of which the product consist (infrastructure, hardware, software, applications, documentation, knowledge) must be taken in account.

Release roll-out decisions are taken based on a predefined formula considering critical major, minor and other cosmetic issues reported during testing. A release check list shall be maintained and verified against before the starting the release process. It is recommended to optimize the number of releases and the frequency. For every major and minor release, check and update all the documentation and associated marketing collaterals.

Communicate to all existing customers regarding the new releases for adoption for by them on timely manner. This helps in reduced maintenance efforts for supporting any earlier releases with customers.
